But listening to this album, it is clear that he is a man of rare sensitivity who has dedicated pages of wonderful lyric poetry to the mandolin. This is a quality that the young mandolinist Federico Maddaluno was able to distinguish from his very first compositions, as expressed in the melancholy "Nocturne" and in other works in duo with pianist Rosella Palumbo and guitarist Gian Marco Ciampa. While perhaps not changing the course of music history, its rediscovery will provide important and further clues to the unimaginable vitality of Italian music at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
