Description:
World premiere recording of three Swedish piano concertos by Peter Friis-Juhansson! Peter Friis Johansson is one of the artists who participated in the sessions for the album "The Music of Helena Munchter" (BIS SA-2204), described by BR Klassik as "the music of a great composer and a wonderful interpretation" (BR Klassik), and was artist in residence at Swedish Radio P2, Peter Friis Johansson(1983-), a pianist who was an artist-in-residence at P2, is one of the artists who participated in the sessions for "The Music of Munchter" (BIS SA-2204). He has recently become even more interested in the "Sweden in my Country," and has recorded three piano concertos for the first time with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Ryan Bancroft. Laura Netzel (1839-1927) was born in Lantasalmi, Finland, and moved to Stockholm at the age of one. She defied the prejudice against "female composers" and published her works under the pseudonym "N. Lago" (N. Lago). As one of Sweden's most internationally recognized composers, her works were frequently performed, especially in Germany, Belgium, and France. The "Piano Concerto" is the largest and most romantic work she wrote at that time.Since only a few handwritten editions have survived, and in incomplete form, it is believed that the entire work has never been performed in the past. This recording is based on the edition by Klas Gagge of "Swedish Music Heritage," and Juhansson has completed the missing parts toward the end of the third movement "Presto". Sven-David Sandstrom's (1942-2019) "Five Pieces for Piano and Orchestra" was commissioned by the Anders Wahl Foundation and composed in 2016. It is one of the best examples of his post-1980s style, when he moved away from the avant-garde approach of his early years to a neo-romantic or neo-baroque style of diction. The solo piano pursues "something much higher, something that can be said to be in the heights of heaven" (Sandström) and restores beauty and harmony. ...... The music, casually named "Five Pieces," is a free flight of the composer's imagination, premiered in Gothenburg on March 22, 2017, and dedicated to Pater Friis Juhansson. Andrea Tarrodi Andrea Tarrodi's (1981-) "Stellar Clouds" is the first "piano concerto" she has composed. The seven movements of "Heavenly Journey" are "Introduction," "Star Formation," "Constellations," "Cosmic Nursery," "Hpernova," "Solo Cadenza," and "Recapitulation. The seven-movement "Heavenly Journey" is reminiscent of the soundtrack to a science fiction film, with various cosmic events such as "explosions" and "stardust" woven into the music. It was written as a commission for the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and premiered in Stockholm on April 12, 2018, with Juhansson playing the solo. Conductor Bancroft grew up in Los Angeles and has served as principal conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales since 2021. King International
