ZIMMERMANN,FRANK PETER; MARTIN HELMCHEN

Description:

F.P. Zimmermann has begun recording Beethoven's complete violin sonatas with Helmchen! Frank Peter Zimmermann, an orthodox violinist born in Duisburg, Germany in 1965, has begun recording Beethoven's complete violin sonatas with Martin Helmchen! Although Zimmermann has recorded Beethoven's Violin Concerto, Romance No. 1, Romance No. 2, String Trio No. 1, and Serenade in D major, this is his first recording of a violin sonata. Zimmermann, now in his mid-50s, has recorded these masterpieces with the virtuoso Helmchen, who has carefully developed them over a long career. Zimmermann is known for his overwhelming technique and graceful, fragrant tone, but in this Beethoven, he places great importance on dialogue with the piano and can be heard here and there with an exquisite sense of balance and superb sense of taste. Martin Helmchen was born in Berlin, Germany in 1982.She won the first prize at the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in 2001, and has since become an internationally acclaimed pianist. Helmchen has won the trust of world-renowned violinists such as Julia Fischer as well as soloists, and this will be her first collaboration with Frank Peter Zimmermann. Helmchen has been performing and recording Beethoven's works intensively in recent years, and this is another recording of note. Not only the performance, but also the instruments are noteworthy. The violin is Zimmermann's beloved Stradivarius "Lady Inchiquin" from 1711. This instrument was once owned by Kreisler and has a velvety tone. Beethoven played on Zimmermann's beloved instrument, which he has been playing with for many years, is exceptional. On the other hand, the piano is a parallel-string piano made by Belgian piano maker Chris Mahne. This piano was commissioned by Daniel Barenboim in 2013, and features parallel strings like a harpsichord or fortepiano, not crossed strings like a typical grand piano. This allows for not only high volume, but also the expression of fine nuances and comfort in playing. This grand piano was unveiled in 2015 with a performance by Barenboim, and has since been recognized by world-class pianists such as Pierre-Laurent Emard and Emmanuel Ax. In recent years, Helmchen, who loves playing this instrument, has taken on the challenge of recording Beethoven's Violin Sonatas on the most ideal instrument available today. This is the start of a recording of the complete works, and we cannot help but look forward to future releases! King International
