A collection of Shostakovich's orchestral works by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra led by Litton! SACD Hybrid Edition. The Singapore Symphony Orchestra, which Lan Shui has built into a world-class orchestra, is well known for its many recordings on the BIS label, and this album features a recording of Shostakovich's orchestral works with Andrzej Litton. Shostakovich left masterpieces in all genres, including symphonies, operas, film music, and ballet music, but from his 30s onward, his works have an image of heavy and dark works that represent the background of the times. In this album, we have collected works that show the bright side of the young Shostakovich. Suite No. 1 for Jazz Orchestra is a suite in three short movements composed in 1934 to enhance the reputation of "Soviet jazz," and is the only original work on this disc. The others are arrangements from existing works.The program includes the "Golden Age" Suite, ballet music with its famous "Polka"; the "Bright Stream" Suite, ballet music depicting the mutual understanding between the peasants of Kolkhoz and the artists; the Suite for Stage Orchestra in eight movements from various works; and Vincent Humans' (1898-1946) hit "Tea for Two" arranged for orchestra. The "Tahiti Trot," an orchestral arrangement of Vincent Youmans' (1898-1946) smash hit "Tea for Two.
