The seventh collection of Bach's secular cantatas by the Bach Collegium Japan conducted by Masaaki Suzuki with the beautiful Mojca Ertmann and Dominique Werner includes "To Our New Lord" BWV 212, "I Know Not What Sorrow" BWV 209, and "O Traitor, My Love" BWV 203. BWV203. Our New Lord" BWV 212 was composed to celebrate the inauguration of Karl Heinrich von Dieskau as the new lord of Kleinachocher, a village near Leipzig. It is a fresh style, with dances of all kinds and plenty of popular songs. The cantata BWV 209, "I know nothing of sorrow," is a cantata for solo soprano voice with Italian lyrics, said to have been written for a young intellectual who was returning home to Ansbach. Musically, the work is strongly influenced by the Italian style.
