Chinese violin prodigy Ning Feng! Elgar & Finzi Concerto! Ning Feng, born in China and now based in Berlin as of 2018, is an internationally active violinist who has won prizes in prestigious competitions such as the Hanover International Violin Competition, Yehudi Menuhin International Competition, Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition, and in 2005, the Michael Hill International In 2005, she won the first prize at the Michael Hill International Violin Competition, and in 2006, the first prize at the Paganini International Violin Competition. This British program was recorded by Ning Feng, who has gained popularity with concerto albums such as Tchaikovsky & Bruch (CCS 34913) and "Appassionado" (CCS 37916) featuring Lalo and Sarasate. The program includes Edward Elgar's Violin Concerto, a masterpiece that is a monumental work in the British violin repertoire, and Gerald Finzi's Violin Concerto, which has long been a secret since its premiere and was reperformed and recorded in 1999.The orchestra will perform two important British concertos with high technique and clear tone on a Stradivarius "MacMillan" made in 1721.
