Resonance has unearthed some of Wes Montgomery's most rare and valuable recordings. This is a compilation of 12 tracks of performances from before, during, and at the peak of his career, by the jazz guitar pioneer and giant who had a profound influence on future generations. Selections from five Resonance albums, including Echoes of Indiana Avenue, In the Beginning, One Night In Indy, Smokin' in Seattle, and Back on Indiana Avenue. The early recordings of Wes Montgomery and the recordings made just before his debut show the roots of Wes Montgomery and his distinctive playing style after his debut. Smokin' in Seattle" was recorded seven months after "Smokin' at Half Note," a popular recording from the peak of Wes's career, and was highly praised by Pat Metheny upon its original release. The artwork is by Uo Fujioka, an Osaka-based illustrator who runs "Way Out West" and has had solo exhibitions at jazz galleries in New York.Almost all of the recordings were unreleased at the time of original release, and Resonance has been in touch with the family of the deceased to release them. This compilation offers an immortal Wes performance from the beginning and peak of his career, including his swingy solos and octave technique.
