Description:
The Norwegian piano trio Alpaca Ensemble has collaborated closely with two composers, Karin Rehnqvist and Ellen Lindqvist, and for the LAWO Classsics album they have added clarinetist Rolf Volk to The album will showcase the "soundscapes" that emerged from this collaboration. Karin Lenqvist was born in Stockholm. She grew up in New Blue, Småland, where she worked as a music teacher before studying at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with Gunnar Bukht, Per Lindgren, and Brian Furnihou. He is considered one of Sweden's most unique composers, creating a unique sound world that bridges art music and folk music. His "Timpani Songs - Cattle Calls," composed in collaboration with folk singer Lena Willemark, who works in a variety of genres, was performed at the 1994 "World Music Days" of the ISCM (International Society for Contemporary Music), and caused a stir. The piece was performed at the ISCM (International Society for Contemporary Music) "World Music Days" in 1994.The "Orbiting - A Quartet in Motion" was created as a work in which the movements of the four players on stage are likened to "planets," and is divided into seven parts: "Outer Space," "-Transit," "Planetary Play," "-Transit - Outer Space -Transit," "Anthem," "-Transit - Outer Space," and "Epilogue. The solo cello piece "Far Beyond and Near" is another work with visual elements. Dutch-American composer Ellen Lindqvist studied at universities in Vermont and New York, and since 2013 has taught as an associate professor of composition at the Norwegian University of Technology and Natural Sciences (NTNU) in Trondheim. She draws inspiration for her compositions from non-musical art forms, and her composition "Mantra," which she composed with the religiosity behind traditional Indonesian gamelan music and the instrument's unique resonance in mind, has been a topic of much discussion. Grounding" is one of the pieces in the series that reflects the theme of "grounding" and "groundlessness" that we face throughout our lives. Gaia" is a violin piece written and commissioned by dancer and choreographer Andrea Ohlsen and adapted for cello. The energetic "Sleeping Word," which develops the theme of "Sleeping Man's Breath.Rural Poem" for piano, which evokes the "echoes" of transparent colors and expansive landscapes, is an early work of hers.
