Motten Eide Pädeschen (1958-2014) studied composition at the Norwegian National College of Music after completing a master's degree in musicology with a minor in philosophy and sociology at the University of Oslo; he taught composition at the "Grieg Academy" of the University of Bergen from 1989 and was also an author and musicologist. The music of Pädeschen, who died suddenly in 2014, has not been presented in public recordings, and this album is the first collection of his works with Signe Backe, a close personal and university colleague, playing the piano. Soccorsi" (Italian for "relief, aid"), the title of the album, is part of an unfinished series of small pieces and sketches entitled "Tagebucher. The session was conducted by players who had strong connections with Padeschen's music, including the string players of Bergen's "BIT20 Ensemble," who performed "Storyboard. Tokyo M-Plus
