Vertavo Quartet

Description:

Since its founding in 1984, the Norwegian group Vertavo Quartet has captivated audiences with its performances and interpretations backed by solid technique, empathy for the composer and his works, and unique sound. Although there have been some changes in the members over the years, the repertoire has remained the same, ranging from classical to contemporary works by Beethoven, Mozart, Schumann, Brahms, Grieg, Bartók, Debussy, Carl Nilsen, Ligeti, Ades, Vidman, Gabriela Frank, Nils Henrik Asheim, and many others. unchanged and continues to focus on Europe and the United States. This LAWO Classics album is the follow-up to Shel Haberstad's "Four Stations" (LWC1193). It features quartets by Verdi and Sibelius, which the girls recorded in 2010. Verdi's "String Quartet in E minor" is his only chamber work, composed "just for fun" in 1873 between "Aida" and "Requiem". It is considered to be a work in Verdi's own style, with its melodies, elegance, and skillful instrumental writing, while featuring themes with a character reminiscent of Mendelssohn and Schumann. It was premiered privately at a hotel in Naples on April 1, 1873. Sibelius' "String Quartet in D minor" was composed at the end of 1908, shortly after he had completed his sound poem "Night Ride and Sunrise," and was completed in April 1909. The work was written at a time when Sibelius was facing various problems, and it was later discovered in the third movement of his research score that Sibelius had written in his own hand "Voces Intimae" (voices from deep within), which gave the work the subtitle "Inner Voice". It became known as "The Inner Voice". Together with Symphony No. 4, it is considered Sibelius' most personal work. Tokyo M-Plus
