The Ssens Trio is an ensemble founded in 2014 by Solve Siegelin and Ellen Margrethe Fleschow of the Grieg Trio and Henninge Landers, Deputy Principal Viola of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. On their debut album, the ensemble presents the "String Trio," which Beethoven composed in the same key and number of movements, quoting a melody from Mozart's Divertimento for String Trio in E-flat Major (K.563), published a few years earlier, as well as the "String Trio," which begins with a "March" and continues through "Menuetto" and "Theme and Variations," ending with a "March. The program includes two works from Beethoven's youth: the seven-movement "Serenade," which begins with a "March" and ends with a "Minuet" and a "Theme and Variations," and the "Serenade" which ends with a "March.
