The introspective yet catchy sound of Vita and The Woolf's latest release, "ANNA OHIO," led by Jen Pague, is portrayed through fictional characters. Here is the musical aesthetic of a self-exploring consciousness and soul. Vita and The Woolf, a dreamy synth-pop/alternative pop band led by Pennsylvania native Jen Pague, now based in Los Angeles, has released their first album on the Tender Loving Empire label and a new beginning for the band. After releasing their debut EP in 2014, Vita and The Woolf released their full-length album TUNNELS in 2017. Although the album received attention from Billboard, ELLE, and NPR, Jen felt that the album did not fully reflect her vision. She moved to Los Angeles for a change and began making new music. She wanted to tell a story "that people could relate to and that would take them beyond adolescence," and "ANNA OHIO" was born. The title of her latest work, "ANNA OHIO," is the name of a fictional character.And Vita and The Woolf realistically portray Anna's journey of self-discovery on this album; Anna Ohio is a woman with flaws, but a strong personality, who is trying to look at herself again. This is, needless to say, a reflection of Jen herself. And Jen tells Anna's story more realistically than reality through her dreamy reflections on life in "Home" and "Auntie Anne's Waitress" and her thirst for escape in "Operator" and elsewhere. Jen's vocals, which have been compared to Florence Welch's, are interspersed with guitar work reminiscent of Elliott Smith, and drummer Adam Shumski's drum patterns add rhythmic depth. --ANNA OHIO" is the direct output of Jen Pague's self-exploratory consciousness and soul, but it is also introspective and full of catchy hooks. ANNA OHIO" is a reflection of Jen Pague's own personal vision and her musical aesthetic, as she has created an album that embodies the sound she seeks.
