Errol Garner's "Octave Remastered Series" #6: March 13, 1962 @ Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana, featuring the immortal trio of Eddie Calhoun and Kelly Martin. The sixth release in Errol Garner's "Octave Remastered Series" is "Campus Concert," originally released by MGM. This is the last live album released before Garner's death, and features a concert at Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana, on March 13, 1962. The members of the trio are the strongest trio, namely Eddie Calhoun and Kelly Martin, and the performance continues to be exciting, with Garner's personality and charm at its strongest. After his death, live performances recorded after this album, such as "One World Concert" and "Amsterdam Concert," were also released, but the value of this work is still immortal.Considering the location of the concert, Garner started the concert with "Indiana," which got the audience into a frenzy, and then fully developed his strong personality with emotionally-composed ballads, his favorite mambo, and "Lulu's Back In Town," which is also well-known in Thelonious Monk's performances. The eighth song, "In The Still Of The Night," is a masterful performance that deserves to be listened to carefully, although there is no other recording of Garner's work available. The final piece, "La Petite Mambo," is Garner's own original, which can be heard on Columbia's "Impressions of Paris," but it was not originally included in the "Campus Concert," and this is the first time it has been added to the recording.
