Methyl Ethyl, a psychedelic pop band formed by Jake Webb from Perth, Australia, makes its world debut on the renowned British label 4AD! Methyl Ethyl began as a solo/project in 2013, with Jake Webb bringing his bedroom recordings to the world. Methyl Ethyl is derived from methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, a scientific compound that his father used to make fiberglass. After releasing the "Guts and Teeth EP" and other solo releases, as his local reputation grew, he needed to play live shows with a band, so in late 2014, he started working with his friend Tom Stuart on bass and Chris Wright, an engineer at a local live music club, as drummer, to form a three-piece The band started their career as a band. The single "Rogues" was a smash hit on a prominent local radio station, which caught the attention of Dot Dash/Remote Control, who signed the band and released "Oh Inhuman Spectacle" in Australia. The album was a success, and the band's fan base spread nationwide, earning them the 2014 Pop Song of the Year award at the Western Australia Awards (WAM). The following year, they again won Best Pop Act and Best Single for "Twilight Driving" at WAM.They have also grown into one of Australia's leading bands, being nominated for the 2016 Australian Music Prize along with Tame Impala and Courtney Barnett. Finally, "O Inhuman Spectacle" was released worldwide on the renowned British label 4AD! The band's psychedelic pop music, also known as the Next Them Impala, is sure to be a worldwide breakout hit!
