A legend of the American music scene, Jim Kweskin continues to create vital and heartfelt music almost 60 years after the release of his first album. His latest release, Never Too Late, is a special project featuring duets with female singers with whom Kweskin has collaborated during his illustrious career, and these talented vocalists include Samoa Wilson, Maria Muldaur (Newport Kweskin's pioneering jug band, which has played numerous times at the Newport Folk Festival and appeared on national television). Kweskin's granddaughter, Fiona Kweskin, also makes her recording debut on the album as a singing partner.The backing band is also predominantly female and features renowned players such as Suzy Thompson on fiddle, Cindy Cashdollar on dobro and steel guitar, and Annie Raines on harmonica. 18 songs in the set include selections from Woody Guthrie, Memphis Slim, Irving Berlin, and Carter Family.
