Authentic Vocalist Dina DeRose Swingy & Warm Jazz Vocal Gem! Dedicated to Shirley Horn, a veteran of the jazz vocal scene, this is her first release with High Note! Dina DeRose, who has released works on the Sharp Nine and Max Jazz labels since the mid-90s, and who has also toured Japan in 2004 and 2008 to great acclaim from vocal fans, has now moved to High Note and released a new album! Her vocals, which she sings while playing the piano herself, are definitely authentic! Her past works have been highly acclaimed by "connoisseurs," but the charm of this album lies in its natural jazz sound and flexible vocals. The charm of her music lies in her natural jazz sound and free and easy vocals. Her singing, which is not at all eccentric, has a great sense of swing and is pleasant to listen to. However, Dina, who also studied piano professionally, improvises freely. She sings so smoothly and naturally that you would never know she was improvising, but there is a richness to her music that is rooted in the mainstream of jazz vocals. Of course, her reputation is outstanding in New York and around the world.In addition to performing at Blue Note, Jazz Standard, Smoke, and other venues, Dina also teaches at New School and has performed at numerous tours and festivals in Europe. This work is dedicated by Dina to the great singer Shirley Horn. In fact, Washington City Paper has long praised Dina as "the most creative and engaging vocalist since Shirley Horn," and she is in that lineage in terms of her spoken word style, her rich texture, and the beauty of her ballads. In this sense, this work is truly a masterpiece. In this sense, this is an excellent project, and one that is more than just a project, but a necessity. The swingy rhythms and the songs that remind us of the good old American spirit...and the superb ballad on the ninth track, "You're Nearer". Not only the vocals, but also the piano that accompanies the vocals are wonderful. Meanwhile, the last track, led by Eric Alexander and the rest of the Horns, makes the most of the original arrangement! The perfect balance between the steadfast rhythm section and the musicians is also an attraction. This is a jazz vocal gem, woven with humble respect for the songs that Shirley Horn has recorded so carefully!
