A trio project of Belgian drummer Stéphane Galland, who has been innovatively active in various jazz scenes, including the avant-jazz band "Aka Moon" and Ibrahim Marlov's band. Up-and-coming bassist Louise van den Hoeffel, who also played with "The Rhythm Hunters," is featured on bass, and Lucia Pires, who guested on vocals in the fusion duo with Jeroen van Herzele, joins on flute this time. The word "Kanda" means "chapter" in Sanskrit, and in South Indian music, the word "Kanda Chapu" refers to a five-beat cycle. The three members of different generations, nationalities, and personalities create multi-layered and complex music by adding effects, keyboards, and EWI to the acoustic sound.An expert in the manipulation of rhythm, Gallant blends traditional rhythms with futuristic sound design to create an immersive world, a project that embodies the forefront of contemporary European jazz.
