A collection of masterpieces that maximize the appeal of the fluteThis is a collection of beautiful flute works from around 1900 by Swiss flutist Helena Macherelle, who has been a soloist with the Basel Symphony Orchestra, a member of the Verbier Festival Orchestra, and has performed with many other orchestras. The pieces by Poulenc, Pierné, and Martin are all masterpieces that bring out the best in the flute. The arranged version of Ravel's Violin Sonata is also perfectly suited to the tone of the instrument and is easy to listen to. The piano accompaniment is by Veronica, Sigiswald Kuijken's daughter. The recording with modern piano is a rarity, but the two instruments play together beautifully, as if they are blending with the flute. The recording is frozen, so to speak, but we hope to bring out the "life" and "breath" of the music.
