Description:
The essence of the Grateful Dead lies in their live performances! From the Dead's vast live archive comes yet another previously unreleased official sound source! This release is an 8-CD live analog set, "RFK STADIUM, WASHINGTON, D.C.", which includes the complete 5-hour performance at RFK Stadium on June 10, 1973, the last show of the season in the spring of 1973, when the Dead were electrifying the world with their stunning performances. In the spring of 1973, the Grateful Dead were consistently delivering spectacular live performances that earned them worldwide acclaim. The five shows held in May and June 1973 to close out the spring 1973 season, including a series of co-headliner shows with the Allman Brothers Band on June 9 and 10, took their tremendous live performances to new heights. The finale performance at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., on June 10, in particular, remains one of the must-see performances among the many top-notch Dead performances, The encore performance was a spectacular finale, with Dickey Betts and Butch Trucks of the Allman Brothers joining the Dead onstage for a joint performance. The five-hour show was a grand musical journey through the ages. This time, a previously unreleased live album, "RFK STADIUM, WASHINGTON, D.C. 6/10/73," featuring the complete performance at RFK Stadium on June 10, the final show of the spring 1973 season, is now available for purchase! This live recording of the entire historic performance will be released in two formats: a 4-CD set and an 8-CD analog set.The performances, which took place at RFK Stadium on June 9 and 10, were recorded in exquisitely clear sound by the Dead's sound visionary and original sound man, Owsley "Bear" Stanley. The sound is so superb that it is rare to hear such excellent sound quality among the many live recordings that exist. From the night's opener, "Morning Dew," to "Bird Song," "Here Comes Sunshine," and the otherworldly "Dark Star," "RFK STADIUM, WASHINGTON, D.C. 6/10/73" is a collection of the Dead's finest live recordings, including "Morning Dew," "Bird Song," "Here Comes Sunshine," and "Dark Star," which seems to transport the listener to another world. 10/73" is filled with some of the Dead's most unique, powerful, and tremendously inspirational performances.
