This is an official session recorded on March 6, 1963 at Van Gelder Studios in New Jersey with the Golden Quartet, commonly known as McCoy Tyner - Jimmy Garrison - Elvin Jones. The session took place the day before the recording of the classic album "John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman," and is a truly historic legacy that captures the quartet in its fullest form! Although the session was recorded, it has never been released to the world, including pirate recordings. Of the 7 master takes (approx. 47 min.), 3 tracks (Tracks 1, 3, 6) are original, previously unreleased Coltrane compositions.Two of his best-known songs, "Impressions" and the jazz standard "Nature Boy," were recorded in a rare trio setting without McCoy Tyner on piano. Although he lived only 40 years, John Coltrane left behind great achievements not only in the history of jazz music but also in the history of American popular music, and this album is a must-hear for all music fans.
