Multi-instrumentalist Stefan Mikes produced this 17th ECM album over a three-year period from 2003 to 2006. Recording my work is always a challenge because I play all the instruments myself and the music consists of so many tracks, which I record in sequence. Except when I am on concert tours, I spend all my time in the studio". The technical feasibility of multi-track recording and Mix's method of composing have their own unique processes.
