This is the trio debut of Polish-British singer/songwriter/violinist Alice Zawadzki, London-based pianist Fred Thomas, and bassist Misha Murov-Abad. With free-flowing interplay and fluid compositions, the trio blends folk idioms from a variety of sources. With their own unique style of trad, chamber music, improvisation, and acoustic jazz, this trio, with its own unique style, presents its full spectrum in a captivating way on this album. The traditional Ladino tunes can be heard here, along with impressive renditions of Gustavo Santaolalla's "Sueltate Las Cintas" and Simon Diaz's "Tonada De Luna Llena". Za Gorami, the Polish traditional piece that gives the concert its title, is performed in a poignant interpretation by Sawatzki, while the Renaissance piece "Je Suis Trop Jeunette" is performed by Fred Thomas in a monody-inspired setting of James Joyce's "Gentle Lady". found a kindred spirit in the setting.The album was recorded at Auditorio Stelio Moro in Lugano and produced by Manfred Eicher.
