Description:
A limited-edition 3LP release of the Beastie Boys’ album *To the 5 Boroughs*, which was released in 2004, reached No. 1 on the U.S. charts, and was certified platinum. It includes 11 bonus tracks, featuring remixes and B-sides originally included in the Digital Deluxe Edition released in 2019. The 3LP edition, featuring 180g heavyweight vinyl and a gatefold sleeve, includes a pop-up feature and a lithograph designed with a subway map, all housed in a sturdy slipcase. Self-produced by the band and dedicated to their hometown of New York, *To the 5 Boroughs* topped the *Billboard 200*, *Top Contemporary Albums*, “Top Album Sales,” and other charts. It struck a perfect balance between tracks like “Shazam!” and “Ch-Check It Out,” which skillfully incorporated pop culture references, and songs like “Right Right Now Now,” “It Takes Time to Build,” and “An Open Letter to NYC,” which addressed serious social and political issues. Rolling Stone praised it as “an exciting and surprisingly well-balanced work. It’s a fast-paced, funny, yet thought-provoking album.” Pitchfork lauded it, stating, “While the album has a laid-back vibe, it clearly expresses the attitude shared by both the city and the group: ‘Having weathered history, we have nothing left to lose.’”
