World premiere recording with period piano! The Complete Nocturnes of John Field! The "Music of Chopin's Time" series features music from Chopin's time, performed on the instruments of his day. The "Nocturnes" by John Field (1782-1837), an Irish composer and pianist who is said to be the originator of "nocturne" and to have influenced Chopin and many other Romantic composers, is now available. Performed by Eva Pobłotka, who won the prize & Mazurka Prize at the 10th International Chopin Piano Competition in 1980, and is now highly acclaimed as one of the leading female pianists in her native Poland. Pobłotka was awarded the "John Field Medal" for the complete set of nocturnes by John Field released in the 1990s (world premiere recording at the time), and this collection of nocturnes (20 pieces in all), again recorded using an 1838 Erard period piano, is sure to become a new masterpiece.
