Forgotten Master Boideful. Two piano quintets from his mature period! Born in 1838 in Vesoul in eastern France, René de Boidefull was a composer who studied in Paris and was influenced by his encounters with Saint-Saëns and Massenet. Despite his great success during his lifetime, the composer has been neglected since the late 19th century. He left about 60 chamber, vocal, and piano works, many of which have been recorded for the first time in the world by the Acte Prealable label. Known for his delicate melodic beauty and refined writing style, Boidefulle's "Piano Quintet" is a particularly mature achievement among his numerous works for salon and chamber music. This album contains two piano quintets. Op.11 with string quartet and Op.25 with double bass, which gives the quintet a more symphonic sound. The recordings were made by up-and-coming international musicians based in Poland. The flexible ensemble and exquisite musicianship breathe new life into these forgotten masterpieces. Tokyo M-Plus
