The 2LP version couples "The Age of Consent" with the remix album "Hundreds & Thousands" (1985). Jimmy Somerville's heavenly high-toned voice, which has been called "the most charming falsetto in England," and his distinctive style of mixing romantic synth sounds with lively dance beats, quickly catapulted him to the top of the disco and pop charts in the 1980s. Bronski Beat's debut album "The Age Of Consent" released in 1984 is reissued in an anniversary edition to celebrate its 40th anniversary. The singles "Smalltown Boy" and "Why?" have become timeless anthems that have been revived and used in films such as "Pride" and "BPM".The single version of the cover of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" features a guest appearance by Marc Almond of Soft Cell. The moody cover of Gershwin's classic "It Ain't Necessarily So" and the jazzy "Heatwave" are also worth listening to. This is a synth-pop classic that should be looked back on now!
