Above all, what makes this release unmissable is the inclusion of two pieces by American composer Abram Chaisins (1903–1987)—a repertoire making its debut on a Bolett album—which is truly a delightful addition. Furthermore, when it comes to Bolet, he is known for being extremely particular about the pianos he uses and for his fondness for Bechstein; however, he was also an enthusiast of Baldwin. According to piano scholar Wilhelm Yoshizawa, Borlett actually played Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 on a Baldwin during the NHK Symphony Orchestra’s tour of Japan—a fact that is sure to pique the interest of piano enthusiasts even further.
