Giltburg has been attracting attention for some time, but his career has been rather cautious. However, his victory at the 2013 Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition has certainly brought him to the forefront of attention. This recording from July 2012 shows Giltburg performing three of the most important sonatas of the Romantic period with great insight and rare virtuosity. Sonata No. 2, which was reborn as a more concentrated work. The Liszt Sonata, one of the most innovative and elusive of all piano sonatas, and the Sonata No. 2, a difficult sonata written at the beginning of Grieg's career. If these three works were to be grouped together as "sonatas of the Romantic period," a great deal of imagination and sensitivity would be required.
