The London-based acid jazz group GALLIANO, active from 1988 to 1997, has released a new album "HALFWAY SOMEWHERE" on CD/LP on Brownswood Recordings, the first new album in about 30 years! Rob Gallagher, founder of GALLIANO, reflects on what it means to gather in a club with "Circles Going Round The Sun," the first single from the new album. When you dance for the first time, you break down the boundaries between matter and spirit, self and others, the individual and the collective," he says, referring to dance culture wise men Andrew Weatherall, David Mancuso, and writer George Mackay Brown and artist Mark Leckey.For their first album since 1997's "Live at The Liquid Room (Tokyo)," Rob Gallagher and his partner, vocalist Valerie Etienne, are joined by Galliano's leading vocalists Ernie McKone on bass, Crispin Taylor on drums, and Ski Oakenfull on keys (guest saxophonist Jason Yarde / Jason Yarde, (Guests include saxophonist Jason Yarde and Galliano's percussionist Crispin 'Spry' Robinson.)
