Description:
Johann Georg Rickl (1769-1843) was an unknown composer/organist of the Austrian Empire. As organist at the Carmelite church in Leopoldstadt, he wrote numerous chamber works for teaching, and in the 1790s, in collaboration with Schikaneder, he composed numerous Zingspiels. However, his works were not published much during his lifetime, and some of them were attributed to "Mozart," so his own name was little known. He is well known in Hungary, where he was for a time the choir conductor of the Hungarian choir in Pécs (now Hungary). Recorded in 2010/2015. (C)RS
