Description:

The winning bands in each category of the 2019 National Brass Band Championships, the most prestigious brass band competition in the U.K., as well as a mini-concert performance by the Black Dyke Band leading up to the announcement of the judges In the 2019 competition, Cory Band was crowned the winner for the first time in three years since the 2016 competition. The 2019 challenge song is "Titan's Advance" by Hermann Parhuber. Inspired by the novel "Titan" by German author Johann Paul Friedrich Richter, the piece was also Parhuber's first composition for brass band, written in 2007. The Cory Band beautifully expresses not only the intensity of the music but also the changes in tune. The sharp and overwhelming performance is mesmerizing. Also, in the concert by the Black Dyke Band held before the announcement of the judging, principal cornetist Richard Marshall gives a wonderful solo on Percy Cord's "Zelda. Other enthusiastic performances by the winning bands in each section will be available for your enjoyment.
