Dedicated to Kourtesis' mother and the renowned neurosurgeon who saved her life, Madres features 10 tracks, including the title track "Madres," "Estacion Esperanza," "La Perla," and other recently released singles. In addition, Manu Chao participates as a guest! Kourtesis, an activist, has tremendous respect for Manu Chao's style of intertwining politics and music, and she wrote a letter to Manu Chao describing her own views on family and politics, which led to this collaboration. Persecuted for being queer, she moved to Berlin, where she also works for gender equality in Peru and for the safety of queer people.
