Manchester-based DJ, producer, record collector, and cartoonist Andy Carthy aka Mr. Scruff is releasing a special 20th anniversary edition of his classic album "Trouser Jazz" on Ninja Tune! The deluxe 2LP set on blue/red vinyl features artwork by Scruff himself and the design collective "Airside," and includes an "Infinitely Peelable Trouser Sticker" on the jacket! Carthy, who has dabbled in everything from soul, funk, hip-hop, jazz, reggae, Latin, African, ska, disco, house, electro, and breaks, worked with engineer Danny Evans to produce "Trouser Jazz," a jazzy, pop-inspired work that is both a reflection of the Meisel Shrimp" combines the cool of the brothers with the funk of Roger Troutman, while "Come Alive" is a brilliant example of Nico's soulful vocals and hypnotic bass line,The 13 tracks include "Ug," with its addictive rough-hewn breakbeats, and other songs that are a concentrated collection of Scruff's typical humor and delightful eclecticism.
