Description:
A pianist with a gift for transforming any score she touched into pure music, Catherine Collard's complete recordings for Erato and the old EMI Entered the Paris Conservatory at age 14 to study with Yvonne Lefebvre and Germaine Meunier, winning first prize in the piano department in 1964 and in chamber music in 1966. He won numerous competition awards and performed in concert halls and festivals around the world. Often performing piano pieces for four hands with Anne Kéfélec, he was also a close friend of Georges Cifra, whose style of playing was completely different. As a soloist, he was renowned for his lyrical and restrained performances of Haydn, Schumann, and Debussy, which made him a popular performer, and in his last years he became even more famous as Natalie Stutzman's accompanist. She remained a professor at the Conservatory of Saint Maur until her death from cancer in 1993. Memories of her concerts, master classes, and generosity live on.
