Paavo Järvi's approach combines technical precision and expressive depth, making him popular with both musicians and audiences. His numerous recordings have won prestigious awards (including a Grammy for his Sibelius Cantatas) and have cemented his reputation as one of the finest conductors of his generation. He has always been a passionate advocate and energetic interpreter of Scandinavian composers such as Sibelius, Grieg, and Arvo Pärt, bringing their exciting and atmospheric music to life.CD 31 includes the first release of Franck: Symphony in D minor, recorded live with the Orchestre de Paris in September 2023, and two pieces by Dukas and Roussel, which were available digitally for a short time in some places (currently not available), but are included specifically for this box. The liner notes are written by James Jolly, editor emeritus of Gramophone magazine and a long-time follower of Parvo's recordings and career. The repertoire in this box includes the most famous Scandinavian composers such as Jean Sibelius (4CD), Arvo Pärt (over 2CD), and Edvard Grieg (2CD), as well as more unusual works by Wilhelm Steenhammar, Erkki-Sven Thule, and Eduard Toobin.
