Alberto Cano Sumito, a rising star in the spotlight Recorded "Technique of Fugue" on his first solo album Astonishing Technique and Constructive Ability! Born in Switzerland in 1996, Spanish-Dutch pianist Alberto Cano Sumito won first prize at the 2017 Naumburg Competition and the 2019 Young Concert Artists Competition. education at the Monastery of Montserrat in Spain at the age of 9, where his learning through performance about living polyphonic music played an important role. He also studied at the Juilliard School, where he studied with Robert McDonald and received the Artur Rubinstein Prize. He also studied with Richard Goode and Stephen Hough. Hough has been a particular influence on him, and he will perform the world premiere of Hough's music during his debut recital at Carnegie Hall in 2019. It is also noteworthy that he has chosen Bach's ultimate work, "The Technique of Fugue," for the release of his first solo album. He is a pianist who combines a strong, precise tone with astonishing construction. The disc concludes with a performance of the unfinished "Contrapunctus 14" (Unfinished Triple Fugue), followed by the chorale "Now I go before Thy throne" BWV 668, which is included in the first edition of the "Technique de la Fugue" score. I remember that when I first heard the opening notes of this piece, I was captivated by the impression that the entire universe seemed to slowly reveal itself through the piece. I was deeply moved by the music, even though I did not immediately understand how complex it was. This album is my small attempt to share this with all music lovers.
