Description:
From France comes a leader work that goes back to standards by noted guitarist Romaine Pilon. Romaine Pilon was born in France and studied at Berklee. Although he moved back to France in 2004, his sound is still connected to the current New York scene. Liornel Ruecke, one of the most unique guitarists in the contemporary jazz world, has also praised his talent, and he is one to watch along with Lage Lund, Mike Moreno, Gilad Hekselman, and others in the current scene. On the album "Falling Grace," he is joined by Israeli bassist Yoni Czernik, with whom he has worked for many years, and top American drummer Jeff Ballard, who has played with Brad Meldor/Chick Corea/Pat Metheny, Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, and others. The bass accompanies the melancholy guitar, and the tight drum rhythm enlivens the whole performance. The band plays standards, but the most interesting thing about the music is that it is very original.
