Patrick Messina, Principal Clarinetist of the Orchestre National de FranceA kaleidoscopic album by Messina, principal clarinetist of the Orchestre National de France, is now available. These three works are composed of clarinet, cello, and piano. The Kaleidoscopic Etude by Jahn Lertz is a world premiere recording. It is a work in which various elements appear one after another, including jazz-like parts, Reich's early phase-pattern-like parts, and slightly melodic parts. Pärt's piece was inspired by the Adagio from Mozart's Piano Sonata K.280. Originally a piano trio piece, it was newly arranged for clarinet, cello, and piano in 2017. The inner world of Mozart's Adagio movement is magnified to such a taut beauty. This is the world premiere recording of this orchestration. Gretzky's "Lark Music" is impressive in its final movement, with various repeated movements reminiscent of the chordal movements at the beginning of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4. Patrick Messina (clarinet)/Born in Nice, France.He has won top prizes in numerous competitions, including the East & West International Artists' Competition in New York and the Houston Ima Hogg National Artists' Competition, and since 1996 has appeared regularly with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra led by Levine.
