Nicolas Lefanu studied at Oxford University and other universities, and has published over 100 works, composing in all genres. The works on this disc are all written in a free atonal style, but are rich in melody and have a lyricism that could be called modern romanticism. The "Crimson Bird," with a text by John Führer, is a romantic song cycle with orchestral accompaniment that has an operatic sweep. Tobu Land System
