Description:

This is the sequel to the landmark album "Letter(s) to Eric Satie" by Bertrand Chamayou, which uncomfortably combines the works of Erik Satie and John Cage, and includes a work for prepared piano written for a dance solo by John Cage. Like the previous album, it was recorded at the legendary Miraval Studios recording studio. This album 《CAGE2》is the sequel to Bertrand Chamayou's groundbreaking album 《Letter(ズ) to Eric Satie》, which seamlessly combines the works of Erik Satie and John Cage, and was recorded at the legendary Miraval Studio, just like the previous album. CAGE2 was recorded at the legendary Miraval Studios. CAGE 2" is also the title of a performance conceived by Bertrand Chamayou and dancer/choreographer Elodie Sicard, and features 12 pieces composed by John Cage for prepared piano between 1940 and 1945, in the order of the "CAGE 2" performance. John Cage wrote all the pieces on this album for dance solos. It was written not only for American dancers and choreographers such as Syvilla Fort, Valerie Bettis, Wilson Williams, Pearl Primus, and Jean Erdman, but also for Merce Cunningham, who was especially close to John Cage. The album includes detailed booklet notes by Bertrand Chamayou on the origins of the prepared piano and John Cage's compositions. Miraval Studio, where this album was recorded, is an old castle in Provence, Chateau Miraval, which was renovated by Jacques Rouché in 1977, and where AC/DC, Sting, Pink Floyd, Sherday, Wham! and others, but it has not been used for the last 20 years. In 2021, however, Brad Pitt will partner with renowned music producer Damien Quintard to renovate and restore the legendary Miraval Studio in the summer of 2022, preserving the valuable recording equipment from the 1970s and introducing the latest analog/digital hybrid equipment designed by Pitt and Quintard. The studio was renovated and restored in the summer of 2022.Damien Quintard also recorded, edited, and mastered this album. Only the imported version handled by Warner Music Japan comes with a Japanese-language commentary. The Japanese-language manual includes a Japanese translation of Bertrand Chamayou's commentary on the origins of the prepared piano and John Cage's music, as well as a newly written commentary by Takaki Yazawa.
