The Studio Albums 1970-1977" is an 8LP box set containing all eight studio album titles released by glam rock icon T.REX between 1970 and 1977. After recording as Tyrannosaurus Rex since the mid-1960s, frontman, songwriter, poet, and guitarist Marc Bolan entered a new era with a new sound, a new band, and a new, shortened name: T. Rex. In the process, he became Britain's first new superstar of the '70s, showing a muse that never rested, and unleashing a series of breathtaking hit singles and studio albums that showcased a relentless, genre-defying creativity. In the 1970s, "T.REX" followed the chart success of "Ride A White Swan" and provided a sonic bridge between the Tyrannosaurus Rex sound and the new electric glam that would make him a superstar. The follow-up, 1971's immortal ELECTRIC WARRIOR, is a collection of classic songs, including "Life's A Gas," "Jeepster," "Get It On," "Cosmic Dancer," and many more.1972's SLIDER was released at the peak of the T. Rex frenzy and reached #1 in the U.K. with two songs, "Telegram Sam" and "Metal Guru"; 1973's TANX became one of the most exciting rock albums of all time. With 1974's Zinc Alloy, Bolan's interests shifted to a frenetic, electric-soul-leaning glam sound that incorporated R&B influences, funky keyboards, and the gospel-tinged "Cosmic Choir." 1975's Bolan's Zip Gun The gorgeous "Futuristic Dragon" from 1976 was a late T. Rex classic, complete with timeless hooks and natural melodies (including the hit single "New York City"), all together with maturity and confidence. Finally, in addition to hit singles like "I Love To Boogie" and "Light Of Love," 1977's DANDY IN THE UNDERWORLD, Bolan's last studio album before his untimely death, remains a great talent that the music world lost too soon. All eight albums in the collection are housed in cardboard outer boxes with original sleeves, inner bags, and lyric cards. BOLAN'S ZIP GUN and DANDY IN THE UNDERWORLD each come with a restored original die-cut sleeve.
