Description:
Formed in 1964, Peanut Butter Conspiracy was one of the most underrated bands of its time, despite its impressive name. Blending folk-rock jangle with exquisite vocal harmonies and psychedelic experimentation, this Los Angeles-based group released three albums and numerous singles between 1966 and 1970, developing a distinctive sound and identity. The peanut butter sound, characterized by lush vocal arrangements and innovative performances, was one that thrived on plenty of the colors of the era, but did not achieve the same success as other groups of the same era. Whether on stage at San Francisco's Psychedelic Ballroom or in Hollywood's sophisticated recording environment, the band's unique contribution to the West Coast vintage rock scene deserves more recognition.
