Cecil Ride, a Chicago soul singer with a huge following among soul fanatics around the world, has finally reissued two extremely rare albums he left behind under the name Home Boy and the C.O.L. after the release of the 80s modern soul/boogie masterpiece "Stone Free"! The first album under the name of HOME BOY AND THE C.O.L., released in 1982, combines the modern soul/boogie that captivated soul fans around the world on the classic album "Stone Free" with the electro synth sounds of the 80s! From the opening track "I'll Make It On My Own" (M1), which features a gorgeous ensemble of horns and a fresh vocal and chorus that create a comfortable groove, to the instrumental number "Home Boys Revenge" (M5), which opens with spicy synths and an electro beat, to the hip-hop groove and synth leads, to the "Soul" (M6), which features a beautifully sung melody and a beautifully sung chorus. The crossover soul of "Love Was The Cost" (M10), with its powerhouse vocals, is a complete floor-filler in the 80s style, with a hip groove, synth leads, and sharp cutting guitar intertwining with each other.
