The ethnic melodies of nostalgia played by the Ethiopian winds, the polyrhythmic rhythm section that produces thick swells, the bewitching vibraphone, smoky roses and organs, and the modal jazz sounds of the U.S. that envelops the entire album...all are fused in miraculous balance in this album, which is unmistakably the pinnacle of Ethio-jazz. It is a masterpiece that is unmistakably at the pinnacle of Ethio-jazz, and an ambitious work that is an outpouring of Mulatu's brilliance as he strives to achieve a new sound. Every time I listen to it, I am thrilled by its bewitching coolness.
