Description:
The animal that cried the most in the forests of Furano was the human. In September 2002, the national drama series *From the North*, which had run for nearly 20 years, drew to a close with *From the North: The Last Will*. Then, in January 2005, a new message was sent out from Furano at just the right moment. Satoshi Kuramoto, returning to the TV drama format for the first time in 15 years, wrote a moving, authentic original drama deeply rooted in the land. Naturally, the theme is the warm bonds between people—the very foundation of Kuramoto’s dramas. This work depicts the renewal of the bond between father and son amidst a variety of human relationships. And another key element is “kindness.” We hope viewers will come to understand what true kindness is… as the protagonist’s heart begins to thaw. Starring as the father and son are veteran actor Akira Terao, known for his role in “Hanochi,” and Kazunari Ninomiya of the group “Arashi,” whose acting skills have been highly acclaimed through his participation in works by director Ninagawa. They are joined by a stellar cast of talented actors, including Masami Nagasawa, Akio Maro, Mayumi Asaka, Kimiko Yo, and Shinobu Otake. This is a story of “healing” set in a single, seemingly forgotten, pristine countryside café, far from the grime of the city.
