Letters" from the Toyama Trio to you on the wind! This is the first jazz standard songbook by the TOYAMA AKIKO Trio. As you can see from the song list, all the songs are familiar to jazz lovers and music lovers alike. This is in direct contrast to the trio's previous albums, most of which were original compositions, but the trio has had many opportunities to perform these standard tunes in their regular live performances, and they have been looking for opportunities to present the repertoire and arrangements that they have been developing. Only a few songs, such as "Daughter of Ipanema" and "Love Letters," were heavily arranged, and the majority of the songs were played straight with only a few head arrangements. The trio's melodic qualities are fully conveyed along with the thrill of improvisation. A fan once commented, "Jazz standards are usually played in the city at night with drinks, but the Toyama Trio's standards are bright and I want to listen to them in nature.
