A new solo project by guitarist and composer Rui Yoshigaki, who is based in Osaka and performs throughout Japan and Europe. Unlike the previous two installments of his solo trilogy—which featured multiple instruments and ensembles with guest musicians—this album is an instrumental work that uses only electric guitar. It incorporates elements of improvisation and special playing techniques into compositions drawn from the various genres he has absorbed, including rock, jazz, electronic music, and experimental music. An ambitious work ranging from orthodox solo guitar styles to effects-driven and prepared guitar techniques, incorporating a wide variety of approaches. (C)RS
