Description:
Up-and-coming trumpet player Yutaro Suzuki, who combines technique and a unique tone, releases his first album!
Up-and-coming trumpet player Yutaro Suzuki possesses a technique and unique tone that can handle everything from orthodox bop style to contemporary music. He released his first album recorded with his friend from his Keio Light days and a musician active on the front lines in Europe!
Yutaro Suzuki is a widely trusted trumpeter in Japan, from young to veteran. He traveled alone to Basel, Switzerland to pursue his own sound, and this album is the first recording made during a two-week exchange with local musicians. Suzuki's sound and lyrical playing were highly acclaimed in Basel, and he was even praised by Larry Grenadier.
Recording members include drummer Yosuke Toki, a close friend of Suzuki's from his days at Keio University's Light Music Society, and highly acclaimed drummer Chris Cheek and Jeff Ballard. In addition, Alistair Peel, a talented bassist who was a member of the elite "Focus Year" band at the Jazz Campus of the University of Music and Performing Arts Basel, will join the ensemble. The group will be joined by world-renowned pianist Aydin Esen, who has performed with Gary Burton, Dave Liebman, and many other renowned artists.
The theme of this album is "once-in-a-lifetime" music created by encounters with musicians of different origins and cultural backgrounds. The band says that they took a "go with the flow" approach, and their performance has a sense of inevitability and stylistic beauty, as if it had been constructed from the beginning. The six pieces include a beautiful, profound, and dark waltz, a ballad with simple and fantastic melody and harmony changes, two of his own originals with a world view, and a performance of a gem of a standard. The sound, which encompasses poetic sentiment and silence, has a certain persuasive power, making this a major turning point for the up-and-coming trumpeter.
