Eight Islands Records, a label that travels the world of jazz, presents its second release, the latest from the master Bob James! A new project with young DJ Sam, discovered by the maestro of the jazz fusion world! Jazz fusion maestro Bob James met Sam Frantz in the midst of the Corona Disaster, and the young DJ/electronic artist began DJing with MEMCO (Michigan Electronic Music Collective) while a student at the University of Michigan, and spent his student days getting exposed to the historical and underground music of southeastern Michigan. He is an electronic artist. Bob himself, after graduating from the University of Michigan some 60 years ago, created a sensation with his innovative sound by challenging the cutting-edge avant-garde music of the time. 60 years later, the two were in the same place, challenging music with the same spirit. Finally, a DJ/electronic artist in his 20s and an 80-year-old maestro meet and weave new music in Michigan--this is the "2080" project. The title "2080" is derived from the number obtained by multiplying the two artists' ages and the musical world they are aiming for, "the sound of 2080. The two, who say that they "created the music as if they were creating a movie soundtrack," began a new journey with music that challenged and experimented beyond the boundaries of time and space.
