Description:

<80th anniversary of Ania Tauer's birth The world's first SA-CD release of all three DG recordings, including the astonishing Dvorak, by the early cellist Tauer at the age of just 22! The latest reissue from the analog master tapes in the original country for this release! Ania Tauer (July 3, 1945 - October 18, 1973) was a cellist from Lübeck, Germany. She was educated by her mother, a violinist, and made her orchestral debut at the age of 13 playing Boccherini's cello concerto. In 1961, at the age of just 16, he received the Cultural Prize of the Federation of German Industries, and in 1964 he made his LP debut on the German label Attacca with an album featuring the cello concerto by Dalbert. His LP debut was on the Attacca label in 1964 with an album of Dalbert's cello concertos. After that, she signed a contract with DG and released Reger and Francais (LP number: SLPM 138 990) in 1966 and Dvorak's Cello Concerto (SLPM 139 392) in 1968, and two more LPs were scheduled to be recorded. Only three commercial recordings remained, including the Attacca release. Since her death was a suicide over the breakup of an affair, the cause of her death was kept under wraps for a long time, and Tauer's name was soon forgotten. It was in Japan that the momentum for Tauer's revival was born. The LPs she left behind fetched high prices due to the excellence of her performances and recordings, the attractiveness of her portraits, and the rarity of their Japanese release. The two long-buried DG LPs were released on CD for the first time in the world by Tower Records Vintage Collection in December 2006 (CD item number: PROA62), and created a great buzz among record collectors and string instrument enthusiasts. In Germany, Tauer began to be re-evaluated around 2010, and the truth about her tragic death was revealed in the liner notes of the CD and in magazine articles. This SA-CD is the world's first SA-CD release of all her DG recordings, which were originally released on CD in 2006, re-mastered from the original analog masters in their home country, and newly converted to SA-CD hybrid format. Recorded by Reger and Francais to commemorate their receipt of a cultural award from the Federation of German Industries, the recordings were released in 1964 in mono (LP number: 003 206) on a limited basis, and then commercially released as a stereo LP in 1966 under the above number. In 1968, Tauer recorded the Dvorak concerto with the 32-year-old Marzal and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, and in all three recordings, Tauer displays her characteristic flawless technique, exceptional musicianship, and emotional richness. Her performance of all three pieces is beautifully recorded, capturing the flawless technique, exceptional musicianship, emotional richness and passion that are her hallmarks. The Dvořák concertos are also a fascinating example of how the young Marzal draws colorful and tasteful sounds from the prestigious Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. (1/2)
